Website design and development

A website designed to be understood, and built to keep working.

Most websites are judged on the top layer. They fail in the three underneath it.

  1. DesignWhat people see and understand
  2. StructureHow information is organised
  3. DevelopmentHow it actually works
  4. Search and conversionHow people find it and know what to do next

A website is all four. A redesign is usually three of them.

01 — What a website is made of

Four layers. A site is only as good as its weakest one.

Design
What people see and understand
Type, colour, space and imagery working as one system, so the site looks like the business and reads as current. A design system, not a set of pages.
Structure
How information is organised
What exists, what it is called, and what sits under what. Most sites that are “hard to use” are structured in the order the pages were thought of.
Development
How it actually works
Fast on a phone, accessible, editable by your team, and built so the tenth page added after launch still looks like the first.
Search and conversion
How people find it and know what to do next
Titles, headings, structured data and speed so it can be found; a short, obvious route to an enquiry so the visit is worth something.

Design and development happen in the same team, so decisions don’t get lost in a handover.

02 — What we might build

Four shapes, depending on what the site is for.

  • Marketing site

Home, services, work, about, contact. The common case, done properly.

  • Launch site

One idea explained well, for a product or service nobody has seen before.

  • Multi-service site

A page per service, structured so each can be found on its own terms.

  • Catalogue or product site

Structured product information with an enquiry or quote path, rather than a checkout.

If the site also has to do something — accounts, bookings, a portal — that is a web application, and it is scoped separately. If you already have a site and it has stopped working, start with a redesign.

03 — What it costs

Website projects start around US$3,000.

Fixed price, quoted once we know what the site has to do. No packages, no per-page tiers, no hourly rate.

Number of page types
Each distinct template is designed and built once.
Content
Whether the words and images exist, need editing, or need writing.
CMS
Who needs to edit what, and how much of the design they can safely change.
Integrations
CRM, booking, payments, newsletter, WhatsApp.

04 — Proof

Two live sites, both built this way.

  • FAFF — explaining a service nobody had seen before, in one scroll.
  • Assam Brooms — a niche manufacturer, structured to be found.

The site you are reading is the third: measured for weight and speed on a phone before anything ships.

05 — Where we work

Four markets, one time zone away.

From Guwahati, Assam, we work with businesses across the UK — where this is usually called bespoke web design — Canada, Dubai and the UAE, and India. Reviews happen on shared screens and a staging site you can use, in hours that overlap yours. Pricing is in US dollars.

06 — Questions

Before you get in touch.

Why can’t you quote a price from this page?
Because a five-page site and a forty-page site are different projects, and we would rather ask four questions than sell you a package that fits neither. Tell us what the site has to do and you get a fixed price, not a range.
What does “bespoke” actually mean here?
Designed and built for your business rather than adapted from a theme. In the UK this is usually called bespoke web design; in Canada, the UAE and India the same thing is called custom. Both mean the structure and the design follow your business, not a template’s idea of one.
Do we need a CMS?
If anyone on your team will change the site more than a few times a year, yes. We set it up so editing is safe: the content is editable, the design isn’t accidentally.
Will it be good for SEO?
The foundations are part of the build, not an upsell: clean URLs, real headings, fast pages, structured data, a sitemap, and content organised the way people search. Ranking also depends on your market and your competition, which no one can promise.
Can you work with our existing brand?
Yes. If you have a brand that works we design within it. If it is holding you back we will say so, and we can refine it as part of the project rather than starting a separate rebrand.
Do you work with small businesses?
Yes — with the floor above. Below roughly US$3,000 you are better served by a good template you set up yourself, and we would rather tell you that than take the project.
